Performance: A Box Where to Keep Emptiness
F. Fragateiro / A. Bizarro
An oversized box awaits visitors at Culturgest. It is closed tight like a fortress. What does it contain? A
Box Where to Keep Emptiness (Caixa para Guardar o Vazio; 2005) is a sculpture but also an event. A place to be explored with one’s body and five senses, in an individual or collective experience. The sculpture is activated by the bodies of two dancers who, through Aldara Bizarro’s choreography, featuring motion and voice, converse with each other and with the audience, prompting everyone to look, dance, interpret, discover, and feel.
Created by artist Fernanda Fragateiro, the structure – made of wood, steel and mirrors – was built specifically for children. The sculpture will be at Culturgest for all those who want to discover this work from November 10 to December 1.
