FUSO 2024
Lisbon International Video Art Festival
FUSO 2024, in its 16th edition, remains steadfast in its commitment to presenting works in the field of the moving image that encourage viewers to critically engage with the world around them, reinforcing the importance of video as a tool for reflection and awareness-raising.
This year’s theme is: Resistance, once again. War, exile, migration, social climate and identity are themes that emerge in art at a time marked by the intensification of inequalities and geopolitical clashes. In this spirit, FUSO challenged four artists/curators to program part of the sessions: Bruno Zgraggen (Switzerland), Laila Hida (Morocco), Lori Zippay (USA) and Marie Voignier (France).
In addition to the curated sessions, there is an Open Call session, composed of works competing for the Fundação EDP/MAAT Acquisition Prize (choice of the artistic directors of MAAT and FUSO) and Duplacena Incentive Prize (choice of the public). The winners are announced on the festival’s closing night, on September 1st.
