Claire Fontaine
Your Money and Your Life
Claire Fontaine’s Your Money and Your Life is a reiteration of a previous exhibition with the same title, held at the Palazzo Ducale in Genoa in early 2019. The show offers a dialogue between new and old works revolving around the value, profit, private property and the commodification of human beings. In the past, ‘your money or your life’ was something you would hear from bandits. Today, capitalism demands both – our money and our time, the constant mobilization of our relational abilities and of our adaptability to withstand increasingly precarious living conditions.
Claire Fontaine is a feminist conceptual collective founded in Paris in 2004 and based in Palermo. Claire Fontaine was a finalist of the prestigious Prix Marcel Duchamp in 2013 and their works have been shown at international museums and exhibitions, including the Jewish Museum (New York), the Wattis Institute for Contemporary Art (San Francisco), the Museion (Bolzano), the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, the Städtische Galerie Nordhorn, the Shanghai Biennial at the Power Station of the Arts, Le Confort Moderne (Poitiers) and the Palazzo Ducale – Fondazione per la Cultura (Genoa).
