The museum’s transfigurative effect on visitors is the result of an unsuspected world of knowledge, as applied to the continuous work of preserving, studying and communicating, thus dissipating deceit and doubt. The purpose of the museum is to provide visitors with a personal experience, which in turn reflects the experience of those who work there on a daily basis. The experience of the museum is based on the magnetic and very personal act of contemplation, which originates in the irreplaceable value of the object as a timeless and redemptive witness of human creative capacity.
Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga believed it was opportune to organize this project, under the provocative designation of ‘ Discoveries Museum‘, at a time when the concept of museum gains new relevance, as shown by the proliferation of new institutions.
