Jazz in the 70th Anniversary of Hot Clube de Portugal

Hot Clube de Portugal (HCP), one of the oldest jazz clubs in Europe, founded in 1948 by a group of enthusiasts led by Luiz Villas-Boas, is celebrating its 70th birthday. 70 years of history celebrated in four concerts in four Lisbon gardens. Complete programme can be found here.

Jardim da Quinta de Santa Clara
Corpo Docente

A band brought together especially for this cycle, formed by the teachers of the School of Jazz of the Hot Clube de Portugal (HCP). The quintet will play original songs of all musicians and themes made popular by jazz music.

Jardim do Arco do Cego
CoMbO cOmBo

Consisting of students and teachers, CoMbO cOmBo is a project of the Luiz Villas-Boas Jazz School that has a challenge: to make music together. Together they will interpret a set of unpublished songs.

Jardim do Torel
Septeto of the Hot Clube de Portugal

Septeto is an “official” formation of the HCP that integrates national musicians and that will present, in this concert, songs from the disk edited in January 2018, the third volume.

Parque Recreativo Moinhos de Santana
Hot Clube de Portugal Jazz Orchestra – The music by Duke Ellington

OJHCP is already famous and is also an “official” representative of HCP, it integrates national musicians and is under the direction of Maestro Luís Cunha. For this concert they have invited an expert in Duke Ellington: Pedro Moreira. It is he who will lead the Orchestra through some of the themes of Ellington’s work, from the 30s to the 50s, in a concert that also features the special participation of the British saxophonist Julian Argüelles.
