Handel’s Messiah
Portuguese Symphony Orchestra
Joana Carneiro conducts Handel’s Messiah . It is one of the most beloved Baroque oratorios and a cultural embrace of mankind, given the familiarity with which people all over the world perform excerpts such as the Hallelujahchorus.
Premiered in Dublin, the work had its first London performance in 1743 at a gala attended by a large section of the diplomatic corps. The cast features some of the most notable young Portuguese singers, as well as tenor Joel Williams and baritone Daniel Mirosław.
