Rafael Riqueni

Rafael Riqueni began his musical journey aged twelve, showing a talent that led him to win the Ramón Montoya Award at the 8th Cordoba Competition and the 6th National Competition in Jerez when he was fourteen, and to triumph again on two other occasions.

After a hiatus of nearly two decades, Riqueni returned to the stage at the Seville Flamenco Biennale, in 2014. In 2020, he received the Guitarra con Alma Award at the 34th Jerez Festival, with his masterful work Herencia, which was also nominated for a Latin Grammy. His legacy was crowned with the National Guitar Award (2023) by the Jerez Flamencology Chair, confirming his place as one of the great iconic figures of contemporary flamenco.

With Herencia, Rafael Riqueni honours tradition while leaving his unique mark in contemporary music, he transcends cultural and geographical borders, captivating audiences worldwide and consolidating his position as a master of flamenco guitar.
