In 1991 Daniel Faria (1971-1999) gifted an object-poem to a friend, written on a roll of cash register paper. Its ends were dipped in red ink, and was wrapped in string. Written in careful handwriting, it read: «O País de Deus, Porto 17 de Junho de 1991, ao João Pedro, Na instituição do ministério de Leitor, Sé Catedral do Porto 14 de Julho de 1991».
Rémiges Cansadas is an exhibition that stems from visual artist Samuel Silva’s closeness to this poem-object and a subsequent form of “para-textual” work. Brotéria invited the artist to create a plastic experience out of literature.
