Silva Porto’s 500 Drawings in the SNBA Collection

Sociedade Nacional de Belas-Artes (SNBA) presents the largest ever exhibition of drawings by Silva Porto (1850-1893), the largest dedicated to the painter since the retrospective exhibition in Museu Soares dos Reis, in 1993, in Porto. There are 500 original drawings, mostly unpublished, which are part of the collection that SNBA has had in its archives for over 120 years after Grémio Artístico acquired them from Silva Porto’s widow at an auction in 1893. This comprehensive testimony of the artist’s career has a profuse catalog that fully reproduces the inventoried works, resulting from research work by Sara Beirão. The exhibition, curated by João Paulo Queiroz, is part of the program Lisbon European Green Capital 2020 and presents mostly drawings of Lisbon landscape themes.

Monday to Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
