Film cycle
Melodrama is a cinema genre and its resistance and resilience, that other genres do not have, has a lot to do with the fact that it plays with emotions and feelings, which are universal. In this cycle there are films from the genre’s golden period in the American 40s and 50s (Sirk, Cukor, Ray, Curtiz), from a previous period, Anna Karenina, by Clarence Brown, and the also rare Dead Reckoning, by John Cromwell, from various cinematography (Buñuel, Mizoguchi, Ophüls, Becker, Fassbinder, Nikita Mikhalkov), from the 60s (Kazan, Rossen, Brooks), and from contemporaries Spielberg, Wenders, and Wong Kar Wai.
